[Debate Log] POTUS December 2012 Elections (Old article)

My apologies for the length of time it took to provide this . I was too tired to do it last night after the debate. Then when I started getting to it earlier today my ADD started acting up somethin' fierce! Finally, when I was ready to publish, wouldn't you know the Secura server goes down? I mean, that NEVER happens, right?

I'd like to give special thanks to Lich98 for getting this log formatting started. That helped a lot.

Hosting debates is definitely a learning process. While last night's debate wasn't as bad as the one for Primera's POTUS election last July, it still ended up being quite lengthy. I looked up that debate and there were 16 questions that took two hours and 20 minutes to get through. Compare that to our 26 questions that took nearly three hours! Based on that, maybe I did a little bit better last night. At any rate, I can only improve at hosting these debates!

The debate is long but formatted for easy readability:
Candidates' statements are italicized.
Moderators' statements are in bold.
Questions are bold and underlined and bookmarked.
And then the two commercials (yes, commercials from me!) are separated and stand out with colored text.

While it'd be nice if people read the whole thing , that almost never happens. So, to help you along, I've included a table of contents listing the questions. Now if a particular question is something you want to quickly get to, you can just click it to go directly there.

The Table of Contents

"Job Interview-like" Questions

1. Regardless of the outcome of this election, how much time will you be able to invest with us on average?

2. Will you be able to continue working toward ensuring the safety of the USA and work together with your fellow candidates, whether elected or not?

3. What is the number one thing you bring to the USA with you? Persons excluded.

4. What is your greatest strength? What is an area that you have felt you need to improve upon before becoming CP?

5. What are your plans to get high resource regions?

6. Do you feel that foreign businesses selling at competitive rates in our markets endangers our security? Why or why not?

7. These DDoSes are killing the servers! Many fear that players will simply quit rather than wait out the storm. Would your administration try to do anything to prevent rage quitting? Do you have plans for retention? For recruiting? Please share...

COMMERCIAL BREAK #1

Candidate-specific Questions

8. Yuusatsu, you are now notorious for having issues with our use of IRC to coordinate military attacks. People really want to know what you intend to replace it with? Can you give details?

9. jackist, how do you intend to fight off Poland and Lithuania if you have already publicly stated you want to downgrade a number of our allies?

10. Genyo, what do you see as the biggest obstacle to communication within the alliance? Any suggestions for making it better?

11. jackist, you have any concerns with having Kyxoan in an upper leadership position considering he is known to say things that would not be considered politically correct?

12. Genyo, will you be more accessible during US prime-time if you are elected? If not, do you have any plans in place to overcome this handicap?

13. jackist, if we are under constant threat from Poland and Lithuania, why do you even consider renting high wood from Spain?

COMMERCIAL BREAK #2

Audience Questions

14. An Anonymous User Asks: "What do you think of the rhetoric and arguments between public and private citizens in regard of attempts to discredit citizens?

15. An Anonymous user has a simple question for you all. "What will you do to get the Mentors started?"

16. An Anonymous User Asks: "What is the congress's responsibility to the people, and is their job to protect the people from the president's decisions?"

17. An Anonymous User Asks jackist: "In response to your presentation, I would like to know how you intend on having individual alliances with certain SUP nations while remaining loyal to OGD? Wouldn't this create conflicts?"

18. Bristel Akina asks: "What are your general priorities when it comes to battles that are open?"

19. Bristel_Akina asks: "Do you plan on increasing awareness of the social programs the USGOV started? If so, how?

20. Bristel_Akina asks: "What is your opinion of the issue between our alliance and Spain which has left it?"

21. DarkDwain wants to ask jackist: "Isn't it somehow dangerous to have such a powerful SC like yours that could/can easily control the whole market and "kill" other smaller businesses?"

22. DarkDwain has another question for jackist: "We heard a lot of *bla bla* Gold *bla bla* from your side. But is that somehow all of your dedication? To spend Gold to achieve goals? To, sorry, BUY all you want? Maybe I just don't see all the strategic plans behind all that Gold-talking."

23. RainbowDashie has a two-part question for the candidates: "What countries do you plan on making alliances with?".... and "Who is best pony?"

24. Valos asks: "If you're elected POTUS, how far are you willing to go to get on the good side of South Korea?"

25. wildkat69 asks: "Do you plan to use referenda to make decisions based on popular votes?"

26. Devoid wants to know the gruesome details to the question: "What outlandish punishment would you deem suitable for the individual(s) behind the DDoS?"

And finally,we have the candidates'

Thank you for reading the debate and this article.

Thanks to our candidates as well: Genyo , jackist , and Yuusattsuu .

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
