Proposal #1: Canadian Battle Hero(es) (Old article)

Hi, it's me. This is a proposal for a new government policy.

The Problem

We want our soldiers to be more active and engaged in warfare. More specifically, we want them to fight in target battle zones set by government and make their contribution count when it really matters.

Solution #1

We could introduce a government-run reward program for Canadian soldiers who contribute the most damage (among Canadians) in a round of battle (in a battlezone designated by the government) with the size of the reward depending on how close the round was (with greater rewards for close rounds and winning rounds).

How It Would Work

1. Government sets a target region.
2. Soldiers watch the designated region to see how close the current round is.
3. Soldiers attack when the round is close.
4. Government identifies the Canadian who did the most damage in each round and rewards them depending on the value of their contribution.

That's it. The exact formula for determining the size of a reward will have to be determined later (assuming this proposal gains enough support to try implementing).

The Good

The objective of this proposal is to motivate people to conserve damage when ahead (because overkill will reduce their reward) and to push harder when behind (because they can get a reward regardless of BH and that reward will increase the closer the round is).

The Bad

It's probably too troublesome to implement. There will have to be someone checking the results of each battle, calculating the damage-to-over/underkill ratio, then distributing the rewards (one for each round of battle).

The Ugly

This plan may motivate people to hold out on attacking when another Canadian's done a lot damage in the current round to get a shot at a reward in a later round.

Solution #2

I've seen other proposals before which involve handing over money to MUs. If we tap into that strain of thought, we can come up with a hybrid policy that involves both (a) government funding for private MUs and (b) top soldier rewards.

There will still be the issue of it being a PITA for someone to review each battle and go through the process of handing out rewards, but there are some advantages:

1. Multiple target regions can be set at any given time (without requiring one unfortunate government employee to keep track of every designated battle).
2. Multiple rewards can given for each round of battle (which means less people waiting for another round to potentially get a reward).
3. MUs will have a reason to fight in battles that are important to Canada.

An Issue that needs to be considered is that some MUs might not play nice (by taking government funding and not using it as expected). Well, that's taken into account with this:

1. Government sets valid targets.
2. MUs set battle orders accordingly.
3. After the battle, MUs report their results (best soldier per round, damage done, overkill/underkill).
4. A civil servant confirms the results (or at least pretends to, to keep MUs honest).
5. Another (or the same) civil servant distributes the full amounts earned by the MUs (rather than the amounts earned by individual soldiers).
6. MU leaders/treasurers distribute government funding to soldiers as they wish (if the soldiers who earned the reward don't get it, they can file a complaint to the government who may choose to cease funding to that MU if the issue isn't resolved).

Conclusion

I don't know if what I've just proposed is a good idea or not. In any case, leave comments.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
