Fast Track pt. 2
Written by Genyo

It has been said that the Kijara Desert always gets to you. The heat is sky-high during the day and the winds bellow endlessly. In the winter it snows ever so slightly as the frost bites. The main nourishment found, was the slightly-deadly addictive Pasam*.
The mountains of Givoa lie to its northern border, and to the South was the sea. It took three days travel to get from one side to the next. A path created by the kings of Brigim and Filopia between the years 3,526 and 3,587 still ran around its sides.

The group was not allowed to use this path to reach the shore, FAST had strict rules on how one was to reach ship. No paths, was one of them.

They all took shifts, watching that no thief or creature chanced upon them. It was in middle of Brick’s shift, that he heard a howling close by. In the darkness it was hard to see, but Brick was able to notice six two-legged creatures.

He woke the others up quietly, and they each took out a prepared weapon.

“It sounds like the Dinfi tribe”, said Frid, “it is best if we don’t meet them”.

After 30 minutes, which seemed like a lifetime, and the sounds had died down, they went back to sleep, leaving Sag to watch.

That’s when the Dinfi pounded. Known for their speed and sharp teeth, the Dinfi were one of the rogue werewolf tribes that attacked every so often. Their Packs often consisted of five to nine members and they lived on their prey. It made no difference if it was an intelligent or non-intelligent creature, the Dinfi would eat anything that their mouths could bite and their stomachs could digest, although sometimes, they found out too late about the latter.

They leaped on Sag, immediately clawing at his chest. He had no chance and within seconds he was on the ground lifeless. Brick was the first to hit back, when they closed in on the tents. His Double-Headed spiked club tore into the flesh of the first attacker. There were five attackers, and their coordination was learned, with years of experience.
They dashed past Brick and were confronted by Frid, a werewolf like themselves. This did not stop them, as they had killed many werewolves amongst others, during their hunts.

Frid swung his ax. He was used to throwing it, but he couldn’t only kill one, he needed to keep it for protection. The one on his right was fast, he attacked Frid and hit him straight on his chest. Frid was losing blood fast, but he did not surrender, he swung the ax with a force, bringing it down on his attacker. It hit the attacker on the left shoulder. It also left Frid without a weapon. The attacker went down, as the other attacker came close to Frid. An arrow zoomed by and hit the attacker straight in the heart, sending it to its death. That’s when Frid made his final mistake. He went to the first attacker to take his ax, leaving the dead/dying other free. The second attacker still had some life in him, and he threw a knife at Frid, which cut through his neck.

Pho had been stabbed in the chest area, as she attempted to defend herself with a sword. Ponov had killed the last two with arrows.

The place was full with blood. Sag and Frid were dead. Pho was seriously injured. Brick and Ponov were the only ones to survive unscathed.

Ponov bandaged Pho, cleaning the wound and stitching it. None of them had the strength to talk about it. It was horrible and terrifying, but it happened, and two (new) friends had died. Ponov decided that he’ll take care of the bodies, while Brick should try to sleep if he could.

Brick awoke in the morning. The eSim felt different today. He hoped that last nights’ events were just a dream. They weren’t, and he noticed this the moment he walked out of his tent. Ponov was placing the final mounds of sand atop the corpses.

“How’s Pho?,” Brick asked.

“She’ll recover”, said Ponov, “but she has lost a lot of blood. We will need to carry her”.

“I hate FAST”, Brick said, “this happened because of their stupid rules”.

Brick was referring to the letter they had all received – Main roads are forbidden, the moment you leave your City/Town/Village, you may not use the main pathways of transportation. Travelling on these main roads will lead you to not being accepted into FAST. You must reach the ship “Zollast” by the 25th. Travelling in your group will be so and so etc.. (the names of those that you were to travel with). If you happen to get injured, locked up, and or anything else, that keeps you from reaching the ship on time, your Admittance is revoked.

“They don’t care”, Brick continued, “if you die, get stabbed, or whatever. If you don’t work the way they ask you to, you and your life are worthless to them”.

“It makes no difference”, said Ponov, “blame whomever you wish, it won’t bring them back and it won’t get us to the ship. If you want to grieve about their deaths, do it, but please, only after we made it on the ship”.

“Fine”, said Brick.

The tension was in the air, many words were left unspoken. They quickly packed and set out. The Sun beat down on them like a glare of a hawk, searching for its prey.

“You know they won’t let me on the ship”, said Pho, when she woke up. They had already travelled for a few hours, and were starting to wonder, if she would regain consciousness.

“Anybody that can’t do the basics, is considered as good as dead”.

“I have a plan”, said Brick, “as long as you recover and can walk a bit, we’ll get you on.
First I need to see the Ship, and then if it’s doable, we’ll get you on”.

*The Pasam (or Addict Pasam, as some refer to it), is a thorny, yet moist fruit. Its texture is sweet with a gush of yellowed water that springs down the throat like a caffeine rush. Many Kijara Desert creatures live off this treat. It has been known to be deadly for some, if eaten uncontrollably. It is said that if you eat one, it’s an underdose, but overdose on five, and you’d never see one again.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
