Well.. that point in time greatly exceeds my 15 minute memory... but lets see what I can scrounge up
Well my first term, during the first real congress elections, was pretty much focused around negotiations with Mexico, and the huge debate over import tax. We we're still dealing with the backlash from the invasion into Mexico ( I was also Ambassador to Mexico for a short while, and I can tell you they hated us ).
There was also the big discussion over import taxes, you had the people who wanted 1% on everything, the people who wanted 99% on everything, the people who wanted to divi up 1% and 99% depending on what we controlled, and the people, like me, who favored something in between
Back then we we're really just talking about what countries to make allies with, what countries would turn out to be hostile. How to deal with Poland and Lithuania, and a bit worried about the imperialism, back when good old NathanP was president.
I was more worried that we wouldn't be able to handle all of the RW's, and that we we're making to many enemies. Which brings me to my first congress campaign of finding more allies.
That pretty much sums up my first term as Congressman, and my early political life

So I got elected to Congress. Orientation was first on my agenda. I needed to get set-up in the Congress forum and the Congress irc. Not too difficult. I spend a fair amount of time reading the forum, getting familiar with the topics. Made a few posts on a couple of the topics, taxes, immigration and the like. I was able to read up on previous discussions made by the former Congress, and that did shed some light on a few issues. I was pleased to see my colleagues took their jobs seriously, and were willing to engage in meaningful debates over several issues. Although I must admit, I also noticed bureaucracy isn't limited to RL politics. Most of my counterparts are respectful of others and willing to listen to someone else's opinions without being rude or closed-minded.
Getting to know the nuances does present it's challenges. For example, a Congressman proposed a new tax law, I went ahead and cast my vote, thinking that's what I was supposed to do. But as it turns out, new proposals that have not been discussed in advance are frowned upon. And I can certainly understand that. Guess I'll know better next time.
In our first week we agreed to several MMPs, and to making a deal with Canada to retake CeC. Kudos to President NathanP and his team. The campaign was successful. The region provides grain, and US jobs, both being important to our economy. And both the USA and Canadian governments are content with the deal. Personally, I feel Canada, as one of our allies, is an asset to us.
There were aspects of the job I had not considered, and frankly, surprised me. From the first day, my inbox has been inundated with messages from citizens of other nations asking, pleading, requesting, and even offering bribes, for me to approve their request for U.S. citizenship. For the record, for those who have offered, or those who might offer bribes, that's a sure way for me to pass you over without any consideration what-so-ever. You insult my Honor when you attempt to buy me. I'm not for sale - at any price.
A topic of interest among members of Congress is new players. Besides the obvious of bringing in more people, we are discussing ways to better indoctrinate new players. How we as a nation can help them get familiar with game, learn the ins and outs, and welcome them. There have been some great ideas, and suggestions on just how to accomplish those goals. The method of a training academy like the West Point used on Primera was mentioned, and it was also pointed out how that was not a huge success on Primera. But noted that the premise could be sound if we could expand on it and make modifications to improve it. The discussion is ongoing.
Another topic of interest is Import Taxes. This topic has sparked some rather intense debates. It seems the opinions are polarized on this subject. Some say higher import taxes will help our economy, while others disagree and insist it would have the opposite effect. I have listened to both arguments, and am doing some research on the subject so I can make an informed decision. I have not taken a firm stand as of yet. I see other nations like Indonesia for example who have import taxes very high. Does this approach, help their economy and it's citizens? Or does it hinder them? It seems finding a compromise would be the best approach. But more research is needed.
Third opinion-the president of eUSA NathanP
What to do
The first week after the server was started was extremely hectic. People were scrambling to make alliances. Most of the mind set was from alliances from the primera server. I knew pretty quickly that I did not want to let relationships from the primera server to influence our alliances on Secura.
So, I looked at other options. Poland and Lit were at the top of the list initially but when they fromed SUP together with Serbia we had to take a step back and reevaluate the power imbalance it would create. At the time the US was ranked #4 I believe in cits, Poland, Lit and Serbia were 1-3 initially. After US at #4 there really werent a lot of options.
SO we decided to attempt to remain neutral which lasted about a week (possibly less)
With SUP starting to dominate the rest of the globe somone needed to step up and form the other side of the coin. US had been in communication with several other countries and decided to form OGD with Brazil, UK, Portugal and Indonesia. The 5 of us were relatively small but together we had the ability to keep SUP at bay for the most part. We were able to keep them from advancing into our territories and were semi sucessful at assisting a couple smaller countris from being completely overrun.Thats the first 30 days from a diplomatic view. Domestically though ....
Military View
It was clear that we had to have Canada's Grain there was no other way about it, Canada at the time had maybe ... 90 citizens?
Even if canada retained cec they wouldnt have had the population to support any effective food production. I made the choice initially to invade without consullting them. I didnt know at the time how active they were going to be and made an executive decision to just go in.Shortly after invading I attempted several times to contact their president at the time "Theorules" but he was not a diplomat and was full of hate, so Ouzobat and I were finally able to come to the table and look into the future and see what was mutually better for our 2 countries. We made the initial agreement for 90 days for the USA to retain cec and all was good from there. As for going south Mexico was a joke they did nothing but insult us when we tried to work with them, they fell shortly after cec and Columbia was quickly after that.Well SBOL was the second MU created, we knew before the server started we wanted to be one of the top and between the officers of Primera Army and Myself we had the disposable income to make that happen.Kyx Prime didnt come into existance for a while after the server started.
This is the first article for many to come about the past of eUSA.
A vote and sub would be apprecieted
