[Suggestion] Personal union! (Old article)

Hello fellow citizens!
It's time for another issue, and today I'll show you an idea I've had for quite some time...

As you all know, alliances and such are all about warfare! Meanwhile the market system is kinda crappy.
The only way to create a working economic and military union is through annexing other countries, and convince all citizens to change their citizenship.
The Empire tried to do this, with Austria "occupying" their neighbours in order to fulfill this goal. Unfortunately, when jackist had to leave the game this came to nothing... As a bystander, I was very interested in the developement of this.
Also, a union like this is very sensitive to resistance wars and PTO's...

I would like to introduce a new system that would change this: Personal Unions (PU)!

Bare with me, and I'll try and explain my idea by using the nordic countries as an example...

Let's say Sweden and Denmark want to form a PU. They negotiate a bit and then vote in each respective congress (successfully ofc ).

After the suggestion is passed the union is automatically created. Another vote then takes place: Who will be the Union President (UP)? In this case, let's say Denmark's CP gets the most votes, so he's elected UP.
Sweden's CP then automatically becomes Union vice President (UvP).

The country which has the UP will from here on be called the "major" country, and the rest "minor" countries.

Now to the game mechanics of a union like this...

Economics:
When employing someone, you get to choose whether the salary should be in SEK or DKK. You however still have to be in the "right" country to work...
When selling your goods, they show up in both countries markets. Taxes are set for the whole union, and income from taxes are split equally.
Import taxes only apply to countries outside the personal union.

Military:
The countries within the union are treated as an alliance, so every game mechanic works in similar fashion...
The union can however NOT join another alliance... In order to expand this alliance other countries have to join the PU.
When it comes to occupying regions a vote to decide ownership takes place after conquering one. Until the vote has been decided, the region belongs to either the major country, or the attack initiator. Either way would work...

Voting:
There are 2 ways of handling this:

1: A new union congress is created, with an equal number of members from each country. The UP's and UvP's are automatically members of this new congress.

2: All decisions have to pass voting in ALL union countries.


What's the point of having UvP's? Well, first of all only UvP's can be elected UP's. So in the event of an impeachment, only UvP's are eligable to become the new UP. Second, their (and the UP's)vote could be worth more than a regular congress member. Perhaps a UvP vote could be worth 2 votes, and a UP vote could be worth the number of union countries plus one.
This would however only be applicable in a joint Union congress.(Suggestion 1 above)
If suggestion 2 above is used the UvP's would become "advisors" or ministers to the UP instead


Now what if a more countries want to join? No problems, voting takes place as before and when passed the new countries joins as minor members and their respective CP's become UvP's (as there already is a UP). In my example let's say both Norway and Finland joins.... we now have a Nordic Union, without having to occupy each other....


A month of happiness and prosperity passes, and each country's congress elections go smoothly... except for Norway's (just an example). Their new congress decides they don't want to be a part of the union anymore and vote to leave it. The vote passes, and they are now a completely independent country again. Their UvP becomes the new CP of independent Norway.The rest of the union stays intact.

But what if the major country decides to leave? Still no problem... Same procedure as before, except the remaining countries vote for a new UP.

So are there just benefits to this? Well,no.. Like I said before, a PU cannot join another alliance. Also, when you want to change laws and declare wars, they have to pass voting in ALL the PU countries.
This way you have to be careful which countries you let into your PU. If not you may end up with a Liberum Veto situation
And I'm sure admins can figure out a way to introduce more PU penalties... Perhaps a large fee to join/leave PU's? Military and economic debuffs?

I dunno... I'll leave that part to your imagination


And plz, instead of just saying "this is crap, U suck" and such, give me some constructive criticism... After all, we ALL want to enhance the game, right?

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.


In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.


You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).


At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
