That's why I'm writing this article, actually that's why I created this newspaper. Let's talk turkey.
For those that don't know me I'm 8675309, AKA Jenny. I am *technically* currently the VP under Hunno, but frankly I haven't done anything his whole term, RL has kept me very busy and I've just 2 clicked. Beyond that I served in the government under both Presidents Nathan, and Pike, working closely with our alliance at that time OGD, and served as Pikes VP. I was heavily involved in building America, and that's why I am unhappy with the current situation, thus this article to give you all some advice on how to rectify this situation, and to explain how it happened.
How it happened is more or less simple, but the why is a bit more involved. It goes back to when Pike was President, towards the end of his term, for those that don't remember we were at the time under attack by Lithuania, they took Alaska before we successfully pushed them back, and started moving on the offensive against them. At the same time, in an effort to draw some damage, Poland declared war on us from our East Coast(everyone forgets this happened, kind of funny). We were pushing Lith back with solid damage coordination, and the help of our allies, though our allied help on that front was limited, why you may wonder? Because at that time our allies(UK, Brazil, Greece, Romania, Indonesia, Iran, India, some others I forget I'm sure) were fighting off Poland for us, cutting off their access. At around this time the election cycle for the new CP started heating up, with Genyo, Yuusatsu, and Jackist throwing their hats in the ring. At this moment I had to deal with fighting off Lith, and with our allies being very concerned about the future of America, because all of the candidates were making it rather clear they were unhappy with OGD.
Jackist won the election, and OGD survived, sort of.....The first thing he did as President was to finish pushing Lith back, and then bring them to the table for peace, huzzah and whatnot. It was good, I have no problem with it. He then (supposedly) signed a secret NAP with SUP(Poland, Lith, Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria) paying them money to leave us alone, and started turning the US into an economic power that controlled every resource. Before his term we had the high iron of USPC, the grain of CEC, the diamonds of Yucatan, and the stone of Andino. We had plenty of high regions, he wanted more. Whether or not that is a good idea I'll let others make their own decisions, however I will tell you the problem with it. It allowed our enemies, and the enemies of OGD to drain the US damage, and keep us from helping our allies. At any time there could be FIVE different RWs in American regions that we had to fight, this meant we could not aid our allies. The end result is what we have now, our allies got tired of a lack of help from America, and gave up on OGD, realizing it would not, and could not continue like that.
At the same time some of the strongest and most active players in America were leaving, for various reasons, SBoL the second strongest MU by damage in the US had left for Pakistan, taking with it the bulk of America’s most effective fighters. The USA lost its best players, and all of its allies at around the same time.
That is the back story, all of those things combined to lead to the USA being attacked, and having no friends to help us. The country was (and still is) a mess. It is a nation without effective leaders, the CP's may try to do what they can, but they lack a supporting staff of qualified people to help them. There is no army in this country, it's a nation of ineffective, and inefficient fighters that 2-click, and complain about the situation without actually trying to fix it. It can be fixed, but it won't be quick, and it won't be easy, and it won't happen unless ALL OF YOU step up.
I will tell you what you need to do, call me crazy, tell me I'm wrong, I really don't mind, or care. You need to get active and involved, I don't just mean the shout box, I mean get on irc. Get into the USA channel (#secura.usa) and start getting involved. Accept the fact that you are, as a nation, a lousy fighting force, and try to rectify that. It's an easy fix, become a cohesive unit, get on IRC, coordinate your damage. Coordination isn't just hitting where you're told, it's hitting WHEN you're told, it's understanding that there are other battles besides Alaska. Ask the President in IRC where you should fight, the answer could change every single hour.
America cannot beat Lithuania alone, never could, never will. There is a VERY simple reason for that, the way battles are timed. What I mean is that each battle lasts anywhere from 16-30 hours. Every country has a "prime time", a time of the day when the nation as a whole is most active, for the US that is typically around 22:00-06:00 game time, or 2 hours before and 6 hours after day change, roughly. In a given day, AT best, the USA can win 4 rounds of a battle, that is it, only 4. Then you lose the other 8, and it's over, yet again. America NEEDS help, but guess what? No one wants to. You can't blame other countries, America is a lousy friend to have, and has been for the past 4 months. It's a selfish country, it fights for itself, it doesn't care about the rest of the world. Knock it off.
When you get on IRC and ask where you need to fight understand that for a full month you might not fight one single time in America, because whoever the next CP is he will need to cultivate friendships, and to do that he has to prove that America can be a good ally, a good friend to have. He has to be able to tell other countries "Look, we won 3 rounds for you last night, and did 20 million damage." He can't do it just one time, he has to do it regularly, once others see we can and will help they will be willing to help us. Not a moment before then.
This is a simple fix, it really is, you just need to be patient, you need to give it time, you need to admit your short comings as a nation and work to fix them. Until then America will remain wiped, nothing more than a Lith holding.
As for me, I don't know what I'll do, I'm in SBoL because that's where my friends are, I haven't decided if I’ll leave America or not, time will tell, I'm in no hurry to decide. I had a lot to do with building this country up before, and that's why I care now, even if it doesn't always seem like it, I care enough to still be here, to pay the gold to start a paper, and to write this very long article.

About the game:
USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
