[Suggestions] How to improve e-sim (Old article)

Dear fellow players,

I suppose, our favourite game e-sim reached a point of stagnation. The map looks like this .
A bunch of countries occupies the whole world and there seems nothing to do about it. The damage output is on their side and in case the rest of the world unites against them, there will merely be any change (ok, i´m sure the guys counting precisely every damage output will give you more optimism and I´ll be the whining one ). However, my aim is not to destroy VVV but to achieve more balanced perspectives and more chances for the weaker ones.

I allowed my humble self to submit those suggestions to railman himself as well as publish them here to create an open discussion and to wake an interest from the responsible persons. Here we go:


Occupation:

Let´s make it harder to superpowers/oppressors. The first crucial imbalance occurs when occupied countries have to pay the excessive amount of 20g for each RW and oppressors earn full income from the occupied regions. Looking at this closely you have to admit that such conditions are simply unfair and outdated. So let´s improve it:

- Country which occupies regions of ONE other country, earns only half of the income of its regions. Country, which occupies 2 countries, earns even less - 1/3 income. country occupying 3 countries earns 1/4, etc.

Looking at Lithuania bullying half of the globe is a total nonsense. According to the new formula their income from 5 different foreign regions should be only 1/6 of the original income of the rightful owner


- Oppressor which deploys defence systems in occupied regions has to pay upkeep for them from the country treasury every time a RW starts and those DS are being used. the upkeep costs depend upon the DS quality. Also let´s make the DS life limited by uses. For example the duration of one q5 = 20 RWs/ordinary battles, q4 = 15, q3 = 10, q2 = 5, q1 = 3. In case, there is no gold for upkeep in the country treasury, the DS is automatically destroyed.

- Players of oppressor´s country which decide to fight in the RWs directly in the occupied regions and use the region bonus, have to face a higher miss penalty. For example: if a country occupies one country, its players face a miss bonus +5 percent. If a country occupies 2 countries, the miss penalty rises up to 10 percent. In case of 3 countries it is +15 percent. In case case the players don´t use the regional bonus and fight from their core regions, the miss penalty would be halved.

In such case Lithuania occupying 5 different regions would have to face +25 percent of a miss penalty when fighting directly in the occupied territory. So it would be very hard for one subject to occupy such amount of foreign countries


- The miss penalty can be corrected by equipment and also by defence systems. q5 DS would provide -5 percent miss, q4 -4, q3 -3, etc.


Renting a region:

- Since occupying will be less profitable, let´s make it possible that one country rents a region to another via a contract accepted by a national referendum. A region can be lend maximum for a month, prolonged only by a congress voting. A borrowed region behaves like a core. No RW can be started there, the DS upkeep is zero and the profits are full.

- The lowest price a region could be lend is 1/3 of its income.


Merging counties:

- Let´s make jackist ´s vision a reality and give 2 small countries the opportunity to merge into a single stronger one. The merging would occur via referendums in both countries.

- The game engine of both countries will remain (orgs, congress, etc), only a new country like a superstructure arises - with its new currency, new orgs, new government, new congress.

- The decline of such union would be decided in national referendums in at last one of the member countries which desires to leave.

- The contras of such merging would be more bureaucracy, less homogenous player environment and of course separatist tendencies of particular participants.

- Merging countries at the moment of their unity cannot exceed their population over an agreed amount (several percentage of the whole e-sim population). This would avoid the merging of large and strong countries.

The game would be herewith a much more better reflection of the reality (f.e.: Czech republic + Slovakia = Czechoslovakia). Of course, you´ll have to add Czech republic first.



Defence systems:

- See above. The DS in core regions will be free of upkeep but with same life limits depending on quantity of usage. Herewith at last the DS would gain more utilization and the DS industry would get a push.

- The upkeep of defence systems deployed in the occupied territory will during the battle round of a proper RW cost accordingly to the DS quality. For example: q1 DS = 3g, q2 = 6g, q3 = 10g, q4 = 15g, q5 = 20g...


Governments:

This is a more general feature, when speaking about suggestions. Let´s implement official ministerial seats, at last:

- Ministry of defence:
gains access to battle monitor only for its country

- Ministry of foreign affairs:
can propose MPPs as well

- Ministry of Internal Affairs:
more protection from PTO, may propose to congress to vote in taking back citizenships

- Ministry of Finances:
may move gold or currency from CT for 2-3 times per election period, access to tax income and money supply statistics


NEW (I forgot, mea culpa):
Punishing the overkills:

- This should be a punishment for countries which cannot spend their damage properly. Wwhen a nation hits in a round 40 millions and another 2 millions, at the t-2 the game engine deletes the overkill and adjusts the wall to 3:2 in favour of the winning side. So it never happens that a battle is decided in advance, but every may be decided in the last 2 (or 3) minutes. This is a huge opportunity to active players and flexible small communities. And the large one have to learn to adapt and react properly. With this change EVERY battle round becomes challenging, thrilling and exciting. And overkill bullies will get big problem.

For example: Poland loves overkills. Its players use to hit up to 20-40 millions at the beginning of a single round despite the opponents damage. With this improvement such damage waste would be sentenced to a fail and the leaders will have to take more advantage of their tactical skills then brute damage




I´m eager to your comments and inputs. But at most I sincerely hope that the game will move forward finally and steps for enhancing its gameplay will be implemented and the chances will be distributed equally. And last but not least I hope that this article will not be deleted by some super (e)GO who has no sense of humor, especially regarding April fools jokes

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.


In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.


You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).


At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
