Import Taxes are good for citizens and the country (Old article)

So Azriel Black wrote an article advocating higher import taxes.

Feel free to read it.

BL: Low import taxes benefit all Americans (even Azriel Black) when buying weapons, food, gifts, and tickets on the market. Azriel Black and his cheerleaders want to increase import taxes so they can profit more at your expense.

First lets break down his article:
The fact is that the temporary low prices we are seeing distract us from the end result of our trade deficit: inflation. I have been told by many including Yang Wen li that this is a game, and the realities of inflation in rl have no bearing on game mechanics. This is a lie!

Of course it is not a lie. The low prices are not temporary. Nor do they cause inflation. In fact the trend in this game is deflationary (basically USD leaves the market with citizens who quit or sits in citizen accounts). USD moving to foreign players account and back into the monetary market (MM) in no way causes inflation.
Congress can actually cause inflation by printing too much money. But that is not the topic here.
So, yeah, Azriel Black is trying to apply a real life theory to a game and it is flat out wrong.
I like the drama of saying "lie" over and over and using "!". Very dramatic.

Azriel Black then makes an argument that USD relative to Gold is inflating. On a side note I hope that it does. The best place for the Peg right now is at 0.04 so congress needs to suck USD out of the market. Again this is not relevant to this debate. All my arguments are based on wages in gold as they stand. And, yeah, the US wages are some of the best in the world even after taxes in gold. The reason for that is only tangentially related to import tax rate and the correlation is not likely to be statistically significant. Sorry Aziel.

^Unrelated things are unrelated yo.

Basically low import taxes provide YOU the consumer with goods at lower prices. This is a GOOD thing.

Basically with globally competitive wages the most important effect of low import taxes for you -the average american- is that prices are low. Meaning you get to buy more stuff. This means that you can fight more, rank up faster, and the government's military priorities get more damage. But wait that is not all. Because 1% import taxes allow entry and encourage economic activity on the US market the government makes more $ in import taxes. See 1% of something is far more than 5% of nothing. If import taxes were 5% you would see prices go up, wages stay the same, and less funding for programs like strikes. So high import taxes are bad for our citizens and our army.

Now you rightly ask: "But Yang, In every economic situation with winners someone loses."

Absolutly right. Would you like to see who loses?
Our enemies lose.

The bad guys lose.

So other countries citizens are paying higher prices for their goods and their governments have less money to fight wars against us.

Incredible policy huh. More for you, money and guns, and less for the guys we are fighting. Wow.

So why is Azriel Black and his group against this policy? Simple:

They want to take more of your money for themselves. Import taxes are basically a subsidy that the government establishes that moves money from citizens to corporate fat cats. That is right. At the end of the day Aziel simply wants more of your money. When it is broken down to to that level it is pretty simple isn't it?

Oh they dress their argument up as being for the new player just starting out and try to throw theories that have proven false out enough times to see if they will stick. If they wanted to 'help new players' start a business then they would write articles about how to be successful and loan gold to new players to help them get up to Q5 RM companies and the like.

But as they know employment is at 100% and do not want anyone competing with them for labor. They want to completely corner the market and ensure zero competition.

On that note some have claimed that low import taxes cause the job market to dry up. Obviously this is not the case as you can see for yourself.

So should the government support admittedly rich corporate fat cats and reduce the damage output of the USA or support the people and the USA? I pick the country and her people.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
