去年有一本新書叫作《台灣為什麼重要？》 ，是一本翻譯書。
作者是 Shelley Rigger
原著作名是 Why Taiwan Matters: Small Island, Global Powerhouse
有意思的是這原是一本 2010 年在美國出版的英文著作，卻翻譯成中文販售。
而書中所提的其實都是臺灣人知道的故事，出版社到底看到什麼商機硬是要出中文版賣給臺灣人呢？
連寫作初衷是要讓英語讀者了解臺灣的 Shelly Rigger 都難以理解。
直到友人跟他解釋，台灣人會看這本書，不是因為他們想認識臺灣，而是因為他們想知道別人怎麼看待臺灣。
書中提到一個線上網頁遊戲叫作 Click Click Click ，玩家只要到網站 www.clickclickclick.com 點一下 Click 按鈕，點擊次數就會加總至玩家所屬國家，限定時間內獲得最多點擊數的國家獲勝。2007年，臺灣年輕人發現這個線上網頁遊戲，在這個遊戲前四回合，臺灣只從84名緩慢上昇至58名，我剛去點了100下，結果臺灣從33名上昇至32名。
書中提到臺灣年輕人發現這個點點點遊戲，讓遊戲風靡全臺，年輕人瘋狂點擊，使用口傳、簡訊、自製短片，當然還還有PTT等社群網站傳遞消息。也寫出自動點擊程式。在第七回合，台灣的鄉民在一週內創造13億點擊數拿下冠軍，一直到第十二回都連勝，拿到了六連霸。作者很好奇，為什麼有這麼多人會不畏艱辛想要贏得這麼沒意義的比賽？
這裡不提作者探究的觀點結論。就跟以前的葡式蛋塔、日式甜甜圈一窩蜂現象一樣，我們很容易一哄而上，又一哄而散，追求一時的好奇。現在的e臺灣也出現了類似的榮景，Day 1出生的我實在很擔心好景不常。為什麼？
因為這個遊戲一開始很無聊，每天二擊或三擊就沒了。
因為這個遊戲想要有一點成就，需要日積月累作很無聊的事才能有一些收獲。
因為這個遊戲的國家戰力來自一群每天作一點無聊事的人，國力等於人力，而人力容易因為無聊流失。
老實說若這不是國際性的遊戲，不是為了讓這面國旗出頭，我自己也早已經放棄這麼無聊的遊戲。各位可以簡單想想，為什麼出品各種暢銷電子遊戲的日韓會在這類型虛擬世界遊戲中被臺灣打好玩？
接下來簡單介紹幾個線上虛擬世界臺灣現況：
eRepublik：老牌線上虛擬世界網頁遊戲，只有一個伺服器，e臺灣因特殊時區及區域土霸優勢和e世界結盟，曾一度與聯盟稱霸世界，目前因遊戲機制變更，聯盟重新洗牌中。現在人口數1616人，排名世界32，國力值世界第六。強盛時國土包含日韓菲，並跨越太平洋打到美洲。
eSim Primera 和 Secura 伺服器：eSim是二個線上虛擬世界網頁遊戲，只有一服 Primera 和二服 Secura 有臺灣，三服則只有非洲。一服由於人口只有126人，排名30，國家力量排名34，國家經驗值排名44。目前國土只留下中臺灣，其他放租給區域強權e菲律賓，國庫收租算是有錢，甚至比租地的菲律賓還富有。殘留的玩家目前主要固守國庫，讓真正臺灣玩家擔任總統和議員。人少之下，一度連議員選舉都不到20人，等於隨選隨上。
部份玩家放棄一服，積極發展二服，幾個月來人數一直明顯上昇，當然界面中文化是一個關鍵，另外社群的支持也很重要。目前人口數3063人，排名第一，國家力量排名第二。看起來國家蒸蒸日上，由於每個伺服器的國家不同，目前主要佔領韓國高鑽區，並積極經俄羅斯向歐洲發展。
基本上，這種遊戲一個國家想要發展好，需要現實人力以及背後的社群支持。可以想像人愈多，國家也愈容易強盛。
但是，各位新手，一個伺服器只能使用一個帳號，多的會變成拿到腰帶的昇天火鳥。手癢難耐的人麻煩到其他伺服器壯大另一個世界的臺灣。請不要在同一個伺服器開小號製造紅海國家。
另外也請大家維持住一丁點的熱情，沒什麼事也上來兩三擊。這些點點擊擊匯集起來就是e臺灣的整體力量。也許對照現實中的功課工作家事來說沒什麼好光榮，但也值得在心靈層面中驕傲一時。
最後，借用電影 KANO 的臺詞，不要只想著贏，要想不能輸。大家一起用熱情燃燒滑鼠吧！英雄戰場，天下臺灣！

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
