Understanding The Political System (Old article)

With congress elections approaching, you'll meet a plethora of campaign articles. This is not one of them (though I am running indeed, and of course I'm your best choice EVA!). Instead, I'd like to talk about a few misconcepions of the role of congress reflected in those campaign articles:

I'll liberate workers/women/ewoks/martians!

Sure thing, do! Only that you won't need a congress mandate for that. Congress can not implement out-of-the-game ideologies. There's a bunch of proposals congress can propose and vote for/against. None of them can liberate Martians.Actually, liberating Martians makes no sense at all in this game. Playing the metagame, role playing Castro or some feminist idol can indeed be fun. But it has actually no relevance to the game we play. There's no Socialist yes or feminist no when it comes to deploying a Defense System. These themes might attract people enthusiastic about them in real life, but that's all. One can represent them without a Congress mandate as well. (Not even to mention fun moments like Kyxoan agitating against 'fat company owners" )

I'll make the eUS the greatest county in game!

No, you won't. Unless you run for President, that is. Congressmen simply don't have the potential to do that. Cutting taxes won't make us the greatest country. Raising them neither. Chanting 'we're the coolest' might help a bit, but you still don't need a mandate for that. Understand that members of Congress have very limited powers. It's the President running the country, not Congress. So, beware of people promising much. They'll simply won't have the power to deliver.

Epic Tits Here!

You can be sure as hell that I'll be the last one to be repelled by the sight of epic tits. However, while finding pictures of the upper ventral region of the torso of a female human being on the internet is undoubtedly the sign of some maturity (well, kinda), it has actually little to do with the role of a congressman in this game.

Being online a lot and clicking yes or no as per directed by the President, that is.

Oh wait, is that what you want? Bobble-head puppies?

Well ...

Basically, yes.
Most of the decisions in our virtual countries are made by Presidents. Not because they're autocrats dismissing independent opinions as such. Not because it's 'the elites' playing the power game so that you, Average Joe couldn't have your voice be heard. Not because they want to oppress you.

Simply because there's not enough time to endlessly chew on issues like where to deploy DSs or whom to declare war on.

Congress have some certain powers. Whenever they feel a President is acting aginst the interests of the community as a whole, Congress may impeach him/her. congress may also refuse to fund his/her policies by cutting donations to the national org.

But these are really last resort measures. If and when a President is stealing from the treasury, or start sabotaging community efforts - Congress can get rid of him.

But generally, it's the elected President who makes the decisions about wars, battles, DS deployments, signing MPPs, printing money, etc. If you like how he's managing affairs, reelect him. I you don't, go for a different candidate next time.

We, congressmen simply confirm (or not) his decisions - as fast as we can. Thus, the most important thing about a congress candidate is how active he/she is. Since time can be a key factor, we should elect people to the congress who are online a lot (preferably at prime times of various time zones), and follow the 'orders' of the elected President (or his appointed unofficial officials) promptly.

Indeed, the ideal candidate is a bobble-head puppy.

There are some issues though where congresspeople have more room for representing various ideas or interests. Taxation is one of them. It's something directly or indirectly affecting all of us. Cutting them isn't necessarily the best decision. Raising the neither. The best scenario is having a congress listening to valid arguents and careful calculations on what the tax system should look like. The best scenario is people voting according to the positions on those issues as outlined in campaign articles. Deploying DSs fast is still far more important though.

I'm fighting for you against the tyrannic regime oppressing you.

That is pure bullshit. Representative democracy is actually hard-coded in this game.
Fighting aginst your own country is not an expression of independent thought, it's plain high treason. You have various ways and means to express your disagreement. Publish articles. Cry your 'truth' on tha chat. Shout. Generally, try to convince people that you're right and the governmnet is wrong. Fighting against your country is not the way. That is not against 'the government', the 'elites', or whatever. That is against the direct or indirect majority decision of the community. All of us.

I won't tell you not to vote for people with a record of high treason . I won't tell you that trusting those people with rights to influence our game is a bad idea.I beg you to use your brain instead. You'll know the answer.

If for some reason you don't want to vote for me, Beeblebrox (well, indeed I'm an arrogant asshole), vote for the likes of Olcon or junglejuice .

They might not promise you the most - but what they offer is actually the most a congressman can possibly deliver. Doing what our duty actually is. Serving You.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
