左丘明《左傳．僖公五年》左傳僖五年：「晉假道於虞以伐虢，宮之奇諫曰：『虢，虞之表也，虢亡虞之從之；諺所謂輔車相依，脣亡齒寒者，其虞虢之謂也。』」
故事
晉獻公要出兵攻打虢國，首先必須經過虞國，但是他擔心虞國不肯答應借路。這時，晉國大臣荀息對獻公說：“您如果肯將垂棘（地名）所產的名貴玉石與屈產（地名，均屬晉國領土）所出的良馬奉送給虞國的國君，然後再向他借路，我想他是會答應的。”
晉獻公有些猶豫地說：“垂棘玉石是我祖傳的寶貝，屈產寶馬是我心愛的坐騎啊。如果虞國國君收下了我的這兩件珍貴禮物，卻仍然不肯借路給我，那怎麼辦？”
荀息於是對獻公分析道：“虞國的國君如果不肯借路，他定然不敢隨便收下我們的禮物；如果他收下了玉石和寶馬，就一定會借路給我們。至於這兩件寶貝，您有些捨不得，這也不要緊，只不過是暫時寄存在那裏罷了，遲早還是要歸還給您的。打個比方，我們將垂棘玉石放在虞國，就好比從內室移到了外室；而將屈產寶馬放到虞國，也就好比是從內馬圈牽到了外馬圈一樣。到時候，您如果要把這兩件寶貝取回來，那還不容易嗎？”
一番話說得晉獻公如釋重負，於是決定按荀息的計謀行事。
虞國的國君見到這兩件稀世寶物後，有些動心，打算給晉國借路。這時，虞國大夫宮之奇出面勸阻說：“國君可不能這樣做呀！虢國是我們的鄰邦，他們與我國恰似一種唇齒相依的親密關係，如果嘴唇沒有了，牙齒是會受凍的呀！長期以來，我們兩國在危難之際互相救助，這並不是什麼互施思德，而完全是戰略上的互相需要啊。而今，您同意給晉國借路，讓其攻打虢國。如果晉國在今天消滅了虢國，我們虞國在明天就會被晉國吃掉，這該是多麼危險的事啊。”
可是，虞國國君一心貪戀晉國的寶玉和良馬，聽不進宮之奇的勸阻，給晉國軍隊讓出了一條攻打虢國的必經之路。
晉國憑藉自己的國力強盛、兵強馬壯，很快就消滅了弱小的虢國。在班師回朝之際，又順便剿滅了毫無準備的虞國。為此，荀息專門去虞國找回寶玉和良馬，當面歸還給晉獻公。

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
