So I got elected to Congress. Orientation was first on my agenda. I needed to get set-up in the Congress forum and the Congress irc. Not too difficult. I spend a fair amount of time reading the forum, getting familiar with the topics. Made a few posts on a couple of the topics, taxes, immigration and the like. I was able to read up on previous discussions made by the former Congress, and that did shed some light on a few issues. I was pleased to see my colleagues took their jobs seriously, and were willing to engage in meaningful debates over several issues. Although I must admit, I also noticed bureaucracy isn't limited to RL politics. Most of my counterparts are respectful of others and willing to listen to someone else's opinions without being rude or closed-minded.
Getting to know the nuances does present it's challenges. For example, a Congressman proposed a new tax law, I went ahead and cast my vote, thinking that's what I was supposed to do. But as it turns out, new proposals that have not been discussed in advance are frowned upon. And I can certainly understand that. Guess I'll know better next time.
In our first week we agreed to several MMPs, and to making a deal with Canada to retake CeC. Kudos to President NathanP and his team. The campaign was successful. The region provides grain, and US jobs, both being important to our economy. And both the USA and Canadian governments are content with the deal. Personally, I feel Canada, as one of our allies, is an asset to us.
There were aspects of the job I had not considered, and frankly, surprised me. From the first day, my inbox has been inundated with messages from citizens of other nations asking, pleading, requesting, and even offering bribes, for me to approve their request for U.S. citizenship. For the record, for those who have offered, or those who might offer bribes, that's a sure way for me to pass you over without any consideration what-so-ever. You insult my Honor when you attempt to buy me. I'm not for sale - at any price.
A topic of interest among members of Congress is new players. Besides the obvious of bringing in more people, we are discussing ways to better indoctrinate new players. How we as a nation can help them get familiar with game, learn the ins and outs, and welcome them. There have been some great ideas, and suggestions on just how to accomplish those goals. The method of a training academy like the West Point used on Primera was mentioned, and it was also pointed out how that was not a huge success on Primera. But noted that the premise could be sound if we could expand on it and make modifications to improve it. The discussion is ongoing.
Another topic of interest is Import Taxes. This topic has sparked some rather intense debates. It seems the opinions are polarized on this subject. Some say higher import taxes will help our economy, while others disagree and insist it would have the opposite effect. I have listened to both arguments, and am doing some research on the subject so I can make an informed decision. I have not taken a firm stand as of yet. I see other nations like Indonesia for example who have import taxes very high. Does this approach, help their economy and it's citizens? Or does it hinder them? It seems finding a compromise would be the best approach. But more research is needed.
I am curious what's on the minds of the American people. What is it you would like to see accomplished in Congress. Please comment below.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
