0-introduction:

Hello my fellow sAustralians!

Following this week's interesting turn of events with the sAustralian-sIndonesia NAP I felt it appropriate that the weekly topic should be about the game mechanics behind alliances and attacking regions. I have divided this article into two sections for the two different topics.

1- Section 1: What are alliances?

Alliances, also known as Mutual Protection Pacts (MPPs), are agreements between two countries for military cooperation which facilites battle-fighting between those two countries as the players located in one of the countries can fight for any battle their allies may be implicated in.

An MPP lasts 30 days after which it needs to be updated. A MPP cannot be proposed if you are at war with the country or one of its allies.

2- How does an alliance proposal work?

An alliance proposal is first started by the president of either country which clicks a button to start a congress vote in the respective country. Should this vote pass, a new congress proposal is automatically started in the country where the alliance is being offered. After this receives more than 50% of congress votes, 10 Gold
is taken from each country's treasury and the MPP is created (if there isn't enough gold the MPP proposition fails).

To find a list of current alliances for any given country visit the (Country > Wars and Politics) tab.

3- Are alliances useful?

Military cooperation is obviously useful between countries to bond and become more powerful together however, the in-game mechanic of MPP, in my opinion, is not that useful for smaller countries. This is because, in practice, the main use of the MPP is to have the battles your allies are fighting in be visible on the home page and the ability to participate in CW from a different country. Other than this, players should always travel to the neighboring region during an attack or the region during a defence of their allies' territories for the location therefore, the ability to fight in a battle from the country with an MPPs is relatively useless. Therefore, I would argue in-game MPPs are considerably less useful between two less powerful countries (even if they are allies) due to their cost and lack of true usefulness.

4- Section 2: How do you attack regions?

Attacking regions is a surprising complex law proposal but is the basis of a country's expansion. To attack a region, the president of the attacking region proposes to attack any neighboring region and (similarly to CW) it costs 10 Gold
+ 10% of the region's population (in Gold
).

To illustrate, it would cost:
-38.8 Gold
to attack Java (current population of 288) but only
-10.7 Gold
to attack Punta Arenas (cur. pop. 7).

However, before a country can attack they must meet six conditions:

-There must be an active war between two countries. A war is a series of battles that starts when there is a declaration of war and ends when a peace proposal is made or there a country completely takes over the other.
-There must not be an active battle at the attacked region.
-Attacker must have war initiative (no active battle in any given war or have not lost a battle in the given war in the past 24 hours)
-Attacker must have enough to pay for the attack.
-There must be a border between attacker and the region that is being attacked.
-Another region of the country is not already being attacked (only one region at a time can be attacked)

5- Is attacking a region useful?

Incredibly so, as it is how a region acquires its economic power (high ressource regions), decreases power of other countries (taking their capital or breaking their route to their core/base regions). It is the arguably the single most important action the president can do and (as we saw) has implications everywhere.

Hopefully the game mechanics of alliances and attacking regions makes sense to all now! Understand the power behind the president's choices and the implications they can have.

Interesting few weeks coming up!

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
