0-introduction:
Hello my fellow sAustralians!

This week's article is going on a slight tangent to explain a very specific concept, Civil War. Civil Wars offen abbreviated "CW"s is one of the newer modules implemented a few mere months ago and is likely the most controversial module.

1- Differences between CWs and battles:
There are a few notable differences between regular battles and CWs. As the name implies, a Civil War happens within the country itself meaning that only players with the same citizenship can participate in the battle. Second, although CW and battles have the same format (maximum of 15 rounds, can fight from allied countries); it is impossible to get location bouns, winning the battles modifies the respective country's government not the possession of a region, they almost always cost more to start, and they can only be started once every week (seven days) by any citizen in the country that happens to have enough gold. More on these points throughout the article.

2- How to start a Civil War:
A Civil War can be started by any citizen if:

-He/she has the required amount of gold
-He/she is level 8 or above
-There hasn't been a CW during the past seven days (cooldown time).

The costs of a civil war is 50Gold
+ 10% of the active population. This means it costs considerably more to start a CW in sPoland (50+156.8= 206.8 Gold
) than it does in sAustralia (50+8.3= a megere 58.3 Gold
).

Note the active population changes often and can be found in Statistics > Country Statistics. The page on which you can start a CW is Country > War and Politics, and it is at the top of this page.

3- Civil War referendum
Once the citizen or organization has meet the criteria to start the CWs and presses the button a referendum is automatically started encouraging every citizenship-wielding citizen to vote in it (there will be a notice on the home page). There are two sides, rebels and loyalists. Only 33% of players need to vote rebels to initiate the battle. Should this fail, the money is refunded to the player otherwise the money disappears and the battle starts.

sAustralia has already experienced a Civil War to which you can see the referdum pool: here along with a drop-down menu of other CWs pools.

4- Sides and Effects:
After the referendum is successful, a banner like the one below appears. All citizens of the CW country can participate if they are located in the country or one of their allies (though again, the country's allies cannot participate in the CW as they do not have the same citizenship). On the left side is the flag of the country, these are the loyalists, they fight to keep the congress the same. On the right side are the rebels, they fight to change the gouvernement and take over congress. If the loyalists win, nothing changes in congress. If the rebels win, congressmen are replaced at random with the top soliders of the rebel side in as close as possible to direct proportional of the total damage dealt by them relative the the loyalists (ex. rebel forces deal a total of 54% damage in the battle, then 55%, or 11 members of the 20 Congress members will be replaced). The main point, is that the strongest rebel soliders become congressmen.

5- Advantages + Disadvantages:
Advantages:
-The most important advantage is due to a controversial feature, the fact the BH medals along with the 5 Gold
can be acquired by many players if the damage is tied and the fact civil wars can be easily started by small countries and be limited in scope player-wise (i.e. <100 people need to cooperate instead of all 13k players). CWs can be HUGLY profitable. sMalaysia for instance, started a CW that gave nearly 400Gold
profit to the country's players (see this article ) due to BH-tying cooperation.
-Abusif/ stupid governments can be overthrown by a rich player or players cooperating and merging their funds
-Gives more power to regular players

Disadvantages:
-No location bouns means less damage in this special battle
-Splits players of same country into two distinct sides
-Costs quite a bit to start initially (if there is cooperation then only the first time is hard)
-Damage could be used in other, more important battles to help allies/ country itself
-To take full advantage of the profitability of a CW requires a fair amount of coordination, agreements, and activity

All in all, most would argue that CWs are important but for the wrong reasons. Instead of being used as a political tool, CWs are now considered one of the most effective way for a country to generate profit, next to companies.

I hope you've learnt something new about CWs and understand why they can be so important (for both overthrowing the gouvernement and earning a lot of gold). I will stop there as I am tired, please ask questions in the comment section below, in IRC, or as a PM to me.

Thanks and keep on hoping we free one of our regions sAustralia!

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
